Job Overview

The role of an Ophthalmic Technician at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust is a vital part of the healthcare team, supporting patients in the Accident and Emergency Department at the Bristol Eye Hospital. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform visual acuities, check ocular pressure, and conduct diagnostic tests such as Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and Humphrey Visual Field (HVF) testing.
  • Provide general personal care and support to patients, including irrigation and ECG recording.
  • Assist in preparing patients for procedures and provide post-procedure care.

Requirements
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in ophthalmic care or a related field.
  • Extensive experience of dealing with the public, understanding confidentiality issues, and working knowledge of NHS procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to interact with people of all levels and backgrounds.

Salary
£24,071 - £25,674 per annum pro rata
