**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at the Bristol Eye Hospital. As an essential member of our diagnostic care team, you will play a crucial role in supporting patients with visual impairments.

This is a permanent full-time position offering a competitive salary of £24,071 - £25,674 per annum pro rata, reflecting the Trust's commitment to rewarding its employees fairly.

In this challenging and rewarding role, you will work closely with experienced professionals to provide high-quality patient care and support. Your primary responsibilities will include performing diagnostic tests, providing personal care, and ensuring the smooth operation of our Accident and Emergency Department.

To succeed in this position, you should possess excellent communication skills, be able to work well under pressure, and demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in ophthalmic care or hold relevant qualifications, such as GCSEs or A levels in science subjects. Proficiency in NHS procedures and a working knowledge of health and safety issues are also essential.

You will receive comprehensive training to enable you to perform all required diagnostic checks, including Humphrey Visual Field testing, Optical Coherence Tomography, and blood pressure monitoring.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Performing diagnostic tests, including visual acuity assessments and ocular pressure checks
  • Providing general personal care and support to patients
  • Working collaboratively with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care

**Requirements:**

  • Extensive experience in ophthalmic care or relevant qualifications (GCSEs or A levels)
  • Proficiency in NHS procedures and health and safety issues
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work well under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances
