About the Role

The Principal Surveyor is a key position within our Corporate Estates team, responsible for delivering high-value asset management services to our corporate portfolio. This role requires a deep understanding of landlord and tenant law, as well as expertise in RICS valuation methodology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of high-value asset management projects, utilizing landlord and tenant knowledge to maximize value from the estate.
  • Provide technical and expert advice to council services and directorates on complex or sensitive service delivery improvements.
  • Lead on complex negotiations for leasehold acquisitions and disposals, licenses, easements, and wayleaves.
  • Assist the Senior Asset Manager in managing the capital receipts program.
  • Provide reports to the Asset Management Review Group on council-owned land and property, identifying surplus assets for disposal.
  • Manage the asset valuation program, ensuring accurate reporting of the Council's land and property portfolio for accounting purposes.
  • Review the portfolio to ensure it meets the service and council needs, supporting the Council's Carbon Neutral 2030 target.
About You

We are seeking a self-motivated individual with a minimum of 10 years of post-qualification surveying experience in a property management discipline. Ideally, you will have experience working in the public sector, but this is not essential. You will be able to demonstrate expertise in asset valuations, CIPFA rules, and high-level technical advice on property acquisitions and disposals.
