Job Summary

The Church of England is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Head of Safeguarding and Compliance. This is a critical position that requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as a deep understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective safeguarding policies and procedures across the diocese, ensuring compliance with Church of England and government regulations.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the safeguarding team, ensuring they have the necessary skills and resources to carry out their duties effectively.
  • Collaborate with senior clergy, diocesan officials, and other stakeholders to promote a culture of safeguarding and risk management within the diocese.
  • Manage the diocesan response to quality assurance and audit processes, ensuring that all necessary documentation and evidence are in place.
  • Commission or request safeguarding practice reviews as required, and ensure that appropriate learning and reflective practice takes place across the diocese.
  • Lead the safeguarding team through effective management, mentoring, and coaching, and support their wellbeing and development.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in safeguarding and risk management, preferably in a similar role within the Church of England or a related organization.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with senior clergy, diocesan officials, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on collaboration and partnership working.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks.
