Position Overview

We are thrilled to announce an opportunity for a Trust-Wide Safeguarding Children Consultant to become part of our innovative and proactive Safeguarding & Vulnerable People Team.

We seek to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic professional with strong leadership capabilities, possessing comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding practices for both adults and children, and promoting a THINK family ethos throughout the organization.

The successful candidate must hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and have relevant safeguarding experience. Exceptional communication skills are essential, enabling the individual to foster positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, provide guidance and support on safeguarding issues to staff and services, and assist the team in delivering training and supervision.

Key Responsibilities

This role is integral to the leadership and operational execution of safeguarding measures across the Trust, functioning within a clinical governance framework.

The appointee will collaborate with the Lead for the Years Safeguarding Service to spearhead the advancement of Think Family practices across the Trust.

The role serves as a vital connection between staff, services, the Safeguarding and Vulnerable People Team, and external entities such as law enforcement and social services, acting as a safeguarding exemplar by providing high-quality advice and support in specific cases.

The individual will ensure effective collaboration with various external agencies and participate in multi-agency meetings both within and outside the Trust.

The post holder will provide counsel to senior clinicians and other healthcare professionals regarding safeguarding matters.

While working collaboratively within a team, there will be opportunities to develop into a more autonomous role.

Additionally, the individual will be expected to cover for colleagues during their absence.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

Required

  • Current Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Registration.
  • Trained to safeguarding level 3.
  • Comprehensive understanding of safeguarding protocols, including CRE and Prevent.
  • Familiarity with current safeguarding issues affecting children.
  • Experience in interagency collaboration concerning child safeguarding.
