Role of a Triage Officer at Hillingdon

The Stronger Families Hub serves as the integrated single point of contact for children, young people, families, and professionals seeking assistance with safeguarding inquiries and access to various support services. If you are passionate about empowering and assisting families in Hillingdon, we invite you to consider this role. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the initial point of contact via telephone for families, the public, and professionals, providing timely and accurate responses in line with the Children’s Act.
  • Creating and processing new inquiries, offering guidance and directing individuals to appropriate professionals, partner agencies, and support services.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information from diverse sources to ensure families receive the appropriate level of support and that safeguarding cases are escalated to managers and social workers.
  • Identifying risks or emergencies that necessitate immediate attention, and managing challenging conversations with a focus on de-escalation.
  • Maintaining professional and empathetic communication, ensuring clarity in documentation throughout the triage process.

About You

We are looking for a compassionate and driven individual with experience in working with vulnerable families and a solid understanding of social care, education, and health services. Proficiency in IT systems and excellent communication skills are essential. You should be capable of responding efficiently and professionally to safeguarding requests from a diverse range of individuals, often discussing sensitive issues with families and adults in distress. The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment is crucial.
