Role of a Triage Officer at Hillingdon

The Stronger Families Hub serves as the integrated single point of contact for children, young people, families, and professionals regarding safeguarding inquiries and access to various support services. If you are passionate about empowering and assisting families in Hillingdon as part of a collaborative team, we would be eager to hear from you. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Serving as the initial point of telephone contact for children and families, the public, and other professionals, providing timely and accurate responses in accordance with the Children’s Act.
  • Creating and processing new contacts, offering advice and directing inquiries to professionals, partner agencies, families, children, young people, and the public.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information from diverse sources to ensure families receive appropriate support and that safeguarding cases are escalated to managers and social workers within the MASH and OOH Team.
  • Identifying any risks or emergencies that require immediate attention and managing difficult conversations while de-escalating tense situations.
  • Maintaining professional and empathetic communication, ensuring clear documentation throughout the triage process.

About You

You will be a compassionate and driven individual with experience working with vulnerable families and a solid understanding of social care, education, and health services. Proficiency in IT systems and excellent communication skills are essential. You should be capable of responding efficiently and professionally to safeguarding requests from a diverse range of individuals, often discussing sensitive issues with families and adults in distress. The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment is crucial.
