This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of our Neonatal Retrieval Team at Barts Health NHS Trust. We are seeking a highly skilled Neonatal/Paediatric Intensive Care Practice Development Nurse to enhance the skills and confidence of our team members and create a supportive environment for staff development. The post holder will provide continuing support to clinical staff and enable them to develop, implement, and evaluate standards of care. Key responsibilities include ensuring effective communication between teams, providing specialist advice and support, and delivering educational programs to enhance service delivery.

Main Duties

The post holder will:

  • Support clinical staff in delivering nursing care and enable them to develop, implement, and evaluate standards of care.
  • Ensure effective communication between teams and provide specialist advice and support.
  • Deliver educational programs to enhance service delivery.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • RGN/RSCN/RN Child with current NMC Registration Neonatal Intensive Care.
  • Current Tertiary NICU/PICU/Retrieval Role - minimum 3 years at B6/7.
  • ENB 405 or equivalent.
  • Assessing and Mentoring Qualification.
  • Educated to degree level or working towards.
  • Evidence of NICU/PICU teaching experience.
  • Evidence of advanced Neonatal/Paediatric resuscitation training.

Desirable

  • Leadership course/development program.
  • Formal Teaching and Research experience.
  • Evidence of participation in QI project/audits.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Communicates in a manner that is consistent with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Takes a proactive role in producing accurate and complete records of communication consistent with legislation, policies, and procedures.

Desirable

  • Quality-focused approach.
  • Recognizes and reflects on barriers to effective communication and modifies communication in response.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to implement change in order to improve patient care planning and delivery of education and training at all levels.
  • Clinical leadership skills.
  • Adaptable, flexible, and able to deal with changing workloads.
  • Current role within L3 tertiary NICU/PICU.
