About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Psychologist to join our Mental Health Treatment Requirement (MHTR) Team. As an Assistant Psychologist, you will play a vital role in providing psychological assessments and interventions to individuals coming into contact with the criminal justice system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Principal Psychologist and clinical lead in the development and evaluation of new MHTR service delivery models.
  • Undertake psychological assessments and interventions of service users, working autonomously and collaboratively with other disciplines.
  • Formulate and deliver care plans addressing the psychological needs of service users.
  • Communicate and liaise with other professionals involved in service user care, including criminal justice colleagues and partners.
  • Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and support to service users to enhance awareness of their psychological needs.
  • Support and contribute to the audit process within the service delivery model.

Requirements

  • Good Honours undergraduate degree in Psychology.
  • Experience of working with adults or older adults with mental health difficulties.
  • Postgraduate or additional qualification in a psychology-related discipline or subject.
  • Well-developed skills in communicating complex, technical, and clinically sensitive information to clients and colleagues.
  • Appropriate understanding of confidentiality in a mental health context.
  • Ability to function in a largely autonomous fashion, subject to suitable supervision.
  • Relevant experience in psychological difficulties such as anxiety and depression.
  • Experience of working with people within mental health services.
  • Experience of working and liaising with other professional groups.
  • Experience of working as a member of a multidisciplinary team or within a team environment.
  • Ability to use clinical supervision and personal development positively and effectively.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Car driver with access to independent means of transport for work purposes and willingness to travel to locations throughout the organisation.
