Key Responsibilities
The role involves delivering highly specialized psychological services to children, adolescents, and families facing complex and severe mental health challenges. The successful candidate will manage individual cases and will be expected to perform specialized psychological assessments, develop intricate formulations, and provide direct therapeutic interventions. Additionally, they will offer expert advice and consultation to a variety of multi-agency professionals and non-professional caregivers, while employing research skills for audit, policy, and service enhancement. The post-holder will operate autonomously within professional guidelines and the overarching framework of the team's policies and procedures.

Qualifications
Essential
- A good honors degree in Psychology. Eligibility for Graduate Membership of the BPS.
- PhD or DClinPsych or equivalent in Applied Psychology (Clinical/Counseling).
- Pre and post-qualification training in specialized assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with complex mental health issues, neuropsychological assessment, research methodology, staff training, and/or other areas of applied psychology.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- Understanding of the spectrum of mental health issues affecting young people and the associated services.
- Familiarity with health, social services, education, and the voluntary sector, along with relevant legislation concerning children and mental health.
- Proficiency in utilizing complex psychological assessment, intervention, and management methods that require sustained and intense focus.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, to convey complex, highly technical, and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, caregivers, and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
Experience
Essential
- Experience working with diverse client groups across the lifespan, addressing a wide range of clinical severity while maintaining professionalism in challenging and distressing situations.
- Experience in specialized psychological assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and their families with severe and complex mental health issues across various care settings.
- Experience in a CAMHS or similar environment.
- Experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency context.
