Service & Support Specialist for Raman Spectroscopy

Job Description

Raman spectroscopy is a powerful analytical technique used in various scientific disciplines. Renishaw Inc is seeking a skilled Service & Support Specialist to join its Raman product line. The ideal candidate will install, maintain, and provide technical support and training for Raman microscopy systems. Based at Renishaw's US headquarters in West Dundee, IL, the position offers extensive travel opportunities supporting customers throughout North America.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain Raman microscopes and accessories in the USA, Canada, and Mexico
  • Diagnose faults with instruments both remotely and on customer site
  • Provide customer training on the use and maintenance of Raman instrumentation
  • Offer technical support to customers using phone, video conferencing, and e-mail
  • Maintain regular and professional communication with customers throughout service events, including schedule, status, and cost
  • Act as a communication link between customer and company to ensure effective service delivery
  • Assemble parts for orders and prepare instruments for shipment
  • Schedule and organize travel to customer sites
  • Complete service reports, expense reports, and other administrative tasks in an accurate and timely manner

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, or Engineer Technology equivalent, Physics, Chemistry, Electrical, Mechanical, or Optical Engineering, or professional equivalent (3-5 years of experience)
  • Experience with microscopes, spectrometers, lasers, or optics
  • Understanding of materials science, physics, chemistry, and biochemistry
  • Understanding of electronic, optical, and mechanical principles
  • Competence with Window-based computer systems
  • Manual dexterity with the physical ability to install and align optical systems in a laboratory environment
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Good time-management and commitment to completing assigned work
  • Strong Interpersonal skills, Verbal, Written, Conflict-management
