Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced therapist who wishes to expand and develop skills in leading a team. As a Senior Speech and Language Therapist, you will be responsible for managing a team of Speech and Language Therapists and non-registered staff, providing expert clinical advice, intervention, and management for a specialist complex caseload, and contributing to the strategic planning and development of the Children's Therapy Service.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Take the lead in day-to-day management and leadership of a small Speech and Language Therapy Team, consisting of registered and non-registered roles.
  • Be responsible for the planning, development, maintenance, and evaluation of the Children's Therapy Service, contributing to the strategic planning and informing the Operational Lead for Children's Therapies of any developments and needs.
  • Provide expert clinical specialist management in children's therapy, including the advanced management of children with diverse presentations and a wide variety of complex communication needs.
  • Manage your own caseload and supervise, educate, and assess students, assistants, and junior therapists in your area.
  • Undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to further own and team's clinical practice.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • HCPC Registered
  • Relevant Masters level studies or equivalent level of knowledge demonstrated e.g. extensive CPD in specialist area
  • Post Graduate clinical experience of working with children and young people with complex communication difficulties and disorders at post graduate level. This must include assessment, management, and support of CYP within educational/early years contexts
  • Relevant degree or MSc in Speech and Language Therapy

Experience

  • Post Graduate clinical experience of working with children and young people with complex communication difficulties and disorders at post graduate level. This must include assessment, management, and support of CYP within educational/early years contexts

Desirable Criteria

  • Post registration experience of the management of CYP with complex communication difficulties or dysphagia/SEND
