Job Summary

The Paediatric team at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a locum consultant paediatrician to support acute general paediatrics, neonatal care, and outpatients. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, dynamic department and gain excellent clinical experience in a supported environment.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for covering the general paediatric ward and admissions, level 1 + neonatal unit, labour ward, and transitional care. The post may also include a small number of resident night shifts, making it an ideal opportunity for a recently qualified consultant looking to step up to consultant working.

About the Role

The consultant of the week system ensures a smooth and efficient service, with time allocated for outpatients and a separate safeguarding session. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to pursue other specialist interests and contribute to the development of the department.

Key Requirements
  • MRCPCH or equivalent
  • CCT Paediatrics or within 6 months of CCT or equivalent
  • On the GMC Specialist Register for Paediatrics
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Postgraduate qualification in child health or related subjects, education, or quality improvement
  • Broad training in General Paediatrics
  • Level 3 Neonatal Experience and Training
  • Training in developmental and community paediatrics appropriate for a General Paediatrician
