About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our Cloud Foundations team at Rightmove. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Implement Scalable Solutions: Design and implement scalable and secure cloud infrastructure solutions using GCP services.
  • Infrastructure Migration: Work on DC to cloud infrastructure migration projects.
  • Infrastructure Provisioning: Architect, implement, and maintain infrastructure provisioning and automation through Terraform-based IaC toolsets.
  • Container Orchestration: Implement and manage container orchestration using Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and Helm.
  • Network Infrastructure: Design and configure key components of network cloud infrastructure - CDNs, Load Balancers, API gateways, and service mesh.
  • Cost Optimization: Optimise cloud resource utilisation and implement cost management strategies.
  • Security and Compliance: Define cloud and network security policies and ensure compliance.
  • Monitoring and Logging: Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and observability solutions for cloud infrastructure.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues.
Requirements
  • Cloud Infrastructure Experience: Previous experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, with a strong focus on GCP.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform.
  • Containerisation: Proficiency in containerisation technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes (GKE).
  • Service Mesh: Experience implementing and managing service mesh solutions.
  • Networking: Strong knowledge of networking concepts and their implementation in cloud environments.
  • Gitlab CI/CD: Experience with Gitlab CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment and management.
  • Programming Language: Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used in Infrastructure.
  • Secrets Management: Experience implementing and managing secrets management, telemetry, and observability tools.
  • Cloud Security: Good understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Cost Optimisation: Experience with cost optimisation techniques in cloud environments.
Desirable Skills
  • Google Pub/Sub and Kafka: Knowledge of Google Pub/Sub and Kafka, and microservices architectures.
  • Search Databases: Performance optimisation of Search databases (e.g. Elastic).
  • Serverless Computing: Familiarity with serverless computing concepts and implementations.
  • Infrastructure Performance Tuning: Experience with infrastructure performance tuning and optimisation.
  • AI/ML Infrastructure: Knowledge of AI/ML infrastructure requirements and implementations on GCP.
