Sodexo is a leading provider of facilities management services, and we are currently seeking an experienced School Cleaning Charge Hand to join our team at the Edinburgh Academy Senior School in Edinburgh, EH3 5BL.

Job Description:

This is a part-time position working approximately 20 hours per week, with flexible hours to accommodate your schedule. As a School Cleaning Charge Hand, you will be responsible for ensuring the site's overall appearance on a daily basis, providing outstanding cleaning services to keep the surroundings safe and hygienic for everyone.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Training and guiding cleaning staff on best practices, equipment usage, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Assigning cleaning duties, inspecting work areas regularly to ensure cleanliness, and reporting any issues to the relevant department.
  • Maintaining stock levels of cleaning supplies, equipment, and other related materials.
  • Conducting regular quality checks to ensure compliance with sanitation and safety guidelines.
  • Performing administrative tasks, such as scheduling, attendance management, performance evaluations, and personnel matters.
  • Collaborating with other departments, like maintenance, to address specialized cleaning needs and resolve facility-related issues promptly.
  • Developing and implementing cleaning schedules and procedures to optimize efficiency and productivity while maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Providing excellent customer service to staff, students, and visitors, responding promptly and effectively to cleanliness-related concerns or inquiries.
Requirements:

We are looking for a highly organized and motivated individual with:

  • A proven track record as a cleaning chargehand, preferably in an educational or institutional setting.
  • Strong knowledge of cleaning and sanitation practices, equipment, and chemicals.
  • Excellent leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Outstanding organizational and time-management abilities to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work well under pressure.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with staff, students, and visitors.
  • Proficiency in using cleaning equipment and knowledge of safety precautions while operating them.

Package Details:

This part-time position offers a competitive hourly rate of £12, with a flexible working pattern Monday to Friday (with possible weekend work depending on business needs). The contract is for 52 weeks per year.
