Job Description
  • Job Title: Assistant Building Manager
  • Reports to: Senior Facilities Manager

To support the Senior Facilities Manager with day-to-day management and operational activities in line with health and safety, environmental, and company procedures, as well as related general legislation and client/tenant requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the fabric of the building is maintained and serviced to a high standard in accordance with the management contract and agreed budgets.
  • Assist with drafting, controlling, and reporting the service charge budget and expenditure for the site(s).
  • Carry out regular inspection audits of the site(s) and take remedial action when required.
  • Work with the Building Manager, key stakeholders, and external clients to ensure a maintenance and repair programme is in place.
  • Participate in regular tenant meetings with the Building Manager and property and asset management colleagues.
  • Ensure health and safety audits are carried out in accordance with the planned programme and follow-up actions are completed within due time.
  • Coordinate fire and other evacuations in accordance with health and safety requirements.
  • Liaise with local authorities as necessary.
  • Manage major work programmes in conjunction with the Building Manager and specialist consultants.
  • Assist the Building Manager in producing management reports as required.
  • Assist with compiling external contracts in conjunction with the Procurement Department.
  • Oversee and regularly review work carried out by contractors to ensure required standards are achieved.
Person Specification:
  • Good standard of education.
  • Previous experience in a facilities environment in a supervisory or management role.
  • Knowledge of technical aspects of premises management.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • A good awareness of health and safety legislation and knowledge of environmental protection requirements.
  • IT literacy and understanding of industry-specific IT applications.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and in a pressurised environment with excellent organisational and planning skills.
