At the City of Edinburgh Council, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Building Standards Lead Structural Specialist to drive our programme forward.

Salary: £46,500 - £54,000 per annum (pro-rated for part-time)

Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled individual to join our team as a Building Standards Lead Structural Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our dynamic and growing city, shaping the future of Edinburgh through sustainable development and safe construction practices.

As a key member of our Building Standards Team, you will be responsible for verifying structural aspects of building warrant applications for compliance with Scottish Building Regulations and mandatory standards. You will also carry out inspections of building works and offer structural advice to customers and assist Building Standards Surveyors.

This role requires strong communication, IT, and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team. You will have a clear understanding of quality assurance and an appetite for project delivery and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify structural aspects of building warrant applications for compliance with Scottish Building Regulations and mandatory standards
  • Carry out inspections of building works and offer structural advice to customers
  • Assist Building Standards Surveyors in their duties
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve team goals and objectives
