Job Summary

This role is a critical component of delivering high-quality patient care at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post will be primarily based in Basingstoke, with occasional requirements to attend other sites. The post holder will be involved in all aspects of patient diagnosis and treatment, including intensive care and obstetric anaesthesia.

Main Responsibilities

The Fellow will be responsible for anaesthetizing patients for elective operating lists in main theatres. The post holder will provide pre- and post-operative care to patients on these lists. Additionally, the post holder will participate in the resident on-call rota, covering intensive care, obstetric anaesthesia, and general anaesthetic duties in both elective and emergency settings.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications

  • Full registration with a licence to practice with the GMC
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • BLTC in Anaesthesia
  • Passed Final FRCA exam

Desirable Qualifications

  • CCT in Anaesthetics / ICM
  • Life support course instructor

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care Medicine
  • Ability to cover intensive care, obstetric anaesthesia, and general anaesthetic duties in both elective and emergency settings

Skills

  • Manual dexterity performing clinical duties
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to establish good professional relations with others

Other Specific Requirements

  • Able to work evenings and weekends
  • Physically and mentally fit with satisfactory occupational health clearance
