Job Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Advanced Clinical Pharmacist to join our Kirklees primary care mental health pharmacy team. This is a fixed-term position for 12 months, covering the maternity leave of the existing post holder.

Main Duties
  • Provide specialist mental health clinical pharmacy services for GP practices and service users.
  • Work alongside advanced clinical pharmacists and medicines optimisation technicians to improve access to information on mental health medicines and support appropriate prescribing and safe use of medicines.
  • Liaise with primary care and secondary care colleagues to support those with mental health conditions being managed in primary care.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction for the development of clinical practice within specialist mental health pharmacy primary care and across the Trust as required.
  • Take the lead in extending boundaries and creating frameworks for the enhancement of clinical practice within their speciality.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Band 7 and 8.
  • Ability to undertake the duties and demands of the post.
  • Self-motivated, with well-developed communication skills.
  • Team player.
  • Teaching or tutoring or mentoring skills.
  • Experience of supervising and directing junior staff.
  • Computer literate including pharmacy systems, Microsoft office, and internet searching.

Desirable

  • Specialist knowledge of mental health pharmacy.
  • Skilled in audit planning and delivery.

Training

Essential

  • Band 8.
  • Evidence of relevant training and ongoing professional development.

Desirable

  • Band 7.
  • Diploma in clinical pharmacy general, community, or psychiatric or working towards.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Batchelor/Masters degree in Pharmacy.
  • GPhC registration as a Pharmacist.
  • Band 8.
  • Bachelor or Masters degree in Pharmacy.
  • Current registration with GPhC.
  • Post graduate qualification in clinical or mental health pharmacy or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Current registration as Independent Non Medical Prescriber.

Desirable

  • Band 7.
  • Membership of CMHP.
  • Membership of RPS.
  • Band 8.
  • Evidence in specific training related to mental health pharmacy.

Experience

Essential

  • Band 7.
  • Completed pre-registration training.
  • Substantial demonstrable experience of working post-registration as a pharmacist.
  • Band 8.
  • Extensive experience of working within speciality Mental health pharmacy services at Senior(B7) level or above.
  • Extensive practice as Independent non-medical Prescriber within speciality.
  • Experience of working therapeutically within mental health medicines.
  • Substantial experience in managerial or leadership roles.
  • Experience of leading service development changes.
  • Developed awareness of the evolving healthcare agenda and the implications for nursing.
  • Experience of research and developing theory into practice.
  • Evidence of facilitating quality improvement into practice.
  • Developed knowledge of clinical governance issues.
  • Experience of training and education.

Desirable

  • Band 7.
  • Experience of providing care to people with mental health problems.
  • Hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Experience of provision of Medicines Information and associated systems.
  • Provision of medicines education to users, carers, and healthcare professionals.
  • Completing audit projects.
