About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Prisoner Custody Officer to join our team at Oxford Crown & Magistrates Court. As a key member of our Prisoner Escort and Custody Services (PECS) team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and secure escorting and custody of detainees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accompany defendants in court rooms and cells, ensuring their physical and mental wellbeing.
  • Search property or people as required, maintaining a high level of professionalism and discretion.
  • Ensure food and drink are available to detainees, adhering to dietary requirements and cultural sensitivities.
  • Complete paperwork and data entry for the day, maintaining accurate records and adhering to company policies.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A current valid driver's license.
  • Reasonable fitness levels, with the ability to manage and control all situations.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and detainees.
Our Assessment Process

Our recruitment process includes:

  • A briefing call to assess eligibility.
  • A competency-based virtual interview.
  • A short role-play and written exercise.

Please note that all roles are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 4, and all offers of employment are subject to Ministry of Justice Enhanced Level 2 checks with Enhanced DBS (Adult & Child Barring) and satisfactory employment references.
