Nutrition and Culinary Expertise Required

We are seeking a skilled Early Years Chef to join our team at Bright Horizons Coulsdon Day Nursery and Preschool. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting healthy, age-appropriate meals for our children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals for children, ensuring minimal waste and catering to dietary requirements.
  • Lead cookery club sessions with children, promoting healthy eating and nutrition.
  • Work in partnership with the nursery team and parents to encourage a healthy and nutritious diet.
  • Ensure the kitchen is a clean and safe environment, adhering to internal and external requirements.
  • Promote and ensure child welfare, protection, health, and safety, and safeguarding.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in cooking in a domestic or commercial setting.
  • Passion for nutrition and inspiring others in healthy eating.
  • Food Safety CIEH L2 or above (or equivalent) – this must be passed on day 1 in post.
  • Sound knowledge of COSHH and managing different dietary requirements.
  • Great communication skills, with colleagues, children, and parents.
