Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist for Surestart Project

Direct Medics is a leading healthcare recruitment specialist recruiting Allied Health Professionals of all bands and specialties for long and short-term locum roles throughout the UK.

We are currently working with qualified Speech & Language Therapists to help them find new and exciting opportunities with the Trusts here in Northern Ireland. As such, we are now recruiting on behalf of the Southern Trust for a Locum Band 6 Speech & Language Therapist to work with the Surestart service covering the Newry/Mourne Area.

Job Summary:

The ideal post holder will be responsible for the delivery of a specialist Speech and Language Therapy service within the Sure Start Project. They will work as part of the Sure Start team and in close liaison with core Speech & Language Therapy services within the SHSCT.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver a specialist Speech and Language Therapy service within the Sure Start Project.
  • Work as part of the Sure Start team and in close liaison with core Speech & Language Therapy services within the SHSCT.
  • Provide Speech and Language Therapy services to children and families in the Newry/Mourne Area.
Requirements:
  • Degree / Diploma in Speech and Language Therapy or a related Degree with postgraduate qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Registered member of HCPC and RCSLT.
  • At least 2 years post-qualification experience as a Speech and Language Therapist, to include a minimum of 1 years' experience working with 0-4 year old children within the last 5 years.
  • Postgraduate training and /or experience in relevant courses e.g. Makaton, Derbyshire Language Scheme, Hanen, Elklan.
  • Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment.
