About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Health Care Support Worker to join our team at South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Trust. As a Health Care Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to our service users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide safe and compassionate care to service users, maximizing their recovery and rehabilitation potential.
  • Develop and maintain meaningful therapeutic relationships with service users, adopting a polite, positive, and empathetic approach.
  • Communicate effectively and informatively with service users, families, and carers, demonstrating an understanding of care and treatment programs.
  • Make adjustments independently within your level of competence and communicate changes to service users and registered healthcare professionals.
  • Concentrate for periods of time, following observation policies, taking and recording physical observations, and responding to issues of concern.
  • Exercise initiative, judgment, and decision-making skills, considering different approaches when delivering tasks.
  • Ensure care experiences are positive and service user safety is maintained, treating everyone with respect, dignity, and courtesy.
  • Contribute to the care planning process, understanding principles underlying care planning, and implementing care within established policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • GCSE A-D or grade 3-9 in Maths and English or equivalent.
  • Apprenticeship level 3 or equivalent, such as RQF NVQ level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent.
  • Care Certificate or required to achieve within 12 weeks of commencement.
  • Able to fulfill Occupational Health requirements for the post, with reasonable adjustments if necessary.
  • A satisfactory sickness record over the previous 2 years.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Language skills other than English.
  • Experience of supervising/inducting others.
  • Level 4 units in Health & Social Care.
  • Experience of the speciality area.
  • Willingness to undertake further study towards level 4 qualification.
