We are seeking a talented Placement Student - Applied Mechanics Engineer to join our team at Cummins Inc., specializing in Engineering for our Power Systems Business Segment. During your placement, you will gain hands-on experience in assessing the durability of our components, systems, and products, ensuring they meet the highest standards for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of our components, systems, and products to guarantee their fitness for use.
  • Measure and analyze the performance of our engines in various environments, from extreme temperatures to rugged terrain.
  • Utilize advanced test equipment, such as servo hydraulic test frames and electromagnetic shakers, to define the durability of our components and systems.
  • Collaborate with global teams to communicate test results and enhance your skills in engineering mechanics, digital signal processing, CAD, and practical instrumentation.
  • Develop and execute your own tests, choosing from a range of tools and techniques to demonstrate the physics under test.

Requirements:

  • We welcome candidates studying towards a STEM-related degree with a passion for engineering.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills are essential for success in this role.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to develop your skillset are highly valued.
  • Good data analysis skills would be beneficial in supporting the analysis of test results.
