Job Summary

The Estates Department at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust provides a comprehensive maintenance, repair, and installation service for buildings, grounds, engineering services, and associated equipment across the Trust.

To be successful in this role, you will have served a recognized electrical apprenticeship and gained extensive experience in building engineering services and plant maintenance, with a BTEC HNC level or City and Guilds qualification, plus relevant post-apprenticeship training or equivalent experience.

You must hold a current UK driving license and reside within a reasonable travel distance to fulfill on-call duties.

The role involves working Monday to Friday, with participation in an emergency on-call rota, opportunities for overtime, and weekend working.

The salary for this position is £28,407 - £34,581 per annum, plus a local RRP (£3,277 per annum), an approximate £1,000 per annum on-call retainer, overtime, 27 days' holiday, and a voluntary pension scheme.

Person Specification

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential

  • HNC in Building Services plus specialist training and experience to graduate level, or equivalent gained through a relevant apprenticeship plus additional specialist knowledge and experience gained through specialist training, short courses, and
  • Authorized/Responsible and/or Competent Person in one or more of the following specialisms: LV Electrical Systems, HV Electrical Systems, Heating and Ventilation Systems, Decontamination Safe Water Systems, Medical Gas Pipeline Systems (MGPS), Confined Spaces
  • Extensive knowledge of the electrical and/or mechanical and/or plumbing systems in NHS premises.
  • In-depth knowledge of all relevant legislation and technical guidance
  • In-depth knowledge of all relevant Health Technical Memoranda's (HTM's)
  • Significant experience working in a complex engineering/building environment.

Technical Skills Competencies

Essential

  • Skilled in maintenance, fault finding, test & repair work on a very wide range of complex engineering services & equipment, with the ability to work unassisted in varying, often technical environments while complying with Health & Safety/Environmental regulations and standards.

Other Requirements Specific to the Role

Essential

  • Participate in outside of normal hours on-call rota.
  • Full driving license.
