About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our team as a Training Officer in Haematology and Blood Transfusion. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the training and competency assessment of new and current Biomedical Scientists, Associate Practitioners, and MLA staff in Blood Sciences.
Main Responsibilities
- Efficiently manage the training and competency assessment of new and current Biomedical Scientists, Associate Practitioners, and MLA staff in Blood Sciences.
- Be responsible for the documentation and management of electronic training records.
- Implement training programs for all grades of staff, including Specialist Registrars, STP, and HSST students, and apprentices.
- Provide continued professional development opportunities for both registered and non-registered technical staff.
- Audit and assess the compliance of staff in line with regulatory body expectations.
- Maintain the training status of the Blood Transfusion and Haematology laboratory in line with the IBMS standards.

Person Specification
- MSc. Biomedical Science or IBMS Special Examination (Fellowship)
- Holder of the IBMS Certificate of Competence, Registration Portfolio.
- Registration with the Health Care Professions Council
- Evidence of continuous professional development

- Training qualification
- Management/Quality training
- Knowledge of higher specialist level in relevant area
Desirable Experience
- Experience of effectively managing staff
- Experience of teaching staff
Desirable Knowledge
- Knowledge of current requirements for training and career progression for biomedical scientists and MLAs.
- Advanced scientific knowledge for relevant discipline
- Detailed understanding of UKAS, Quality Management Systems
- Good understanding of Health & Safety Legislation
- Good understanding of Governance Requirements.
- Detailed knowledge of MHRA legislation
