About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our team as a Haematology Training Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the training and competency assessment of new and current Biomedical Scientists, Associate Practitioners, and MLA staff in Blood Sciences.
Main Responsibilities
The post-holder will be required to efficiently manage the training and competency assessment of new and current Biomedical Scientists, Associate Practitioners, and MLA staff in Blood Sciences. This will include the documentation and management of electronic training records, the implementation of training programs for all grades of staff, and the provision of continued professional development opportunities for both registered and non-registered technical staff.

Person Specification
- MSc. Biomedical Science or IBMS Special Examination (Fellowship)
- Holder of the IBMS Certificate of Competence, Registration Portfolio
- Registration with the Health Care Professions Council
- Evidence of continuous professional development
Desirable
- Training qualification
- Management/Quality training
- Knowledge of higher specialist level in relevant area
Experience
- At least 5 years post HCPC registration in diagnostic Haematology & Blood Transfusion
Knowledge
- Knowledge of current requirements for training and career progression for biomedical scientists and MLAs
- Advanced scientific knowledge for relevant discipline
- Detailed understanding of UKAS, Quality Management Systems
- Good understanding of Health & Safety Legislation
- Good understanding of Governance Requirements
- Detailed knowledge of MHRA legislation
Skills
- Competent in quality management techniques
- Basic computer literacy
- Ability to analyse, interpret and present data/results/concepts
- Ability to deliver training in multiple formats reflecting on training needs
