Deputy Surgical Ward Manager

Join RecruitmentServices in Haslemere, Surrey, as a Deputy Surgical Ward Manager, where you will play a crucial role in the effective management and utilisation of ward manpower and resources. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work in a private, low-secure mental health hospital.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate with the Ward Manager to ensure the efficient allocation of resources and staff, promoting a clinically effective and financially viable environment.
  2. Ensure that duty rotas are respected and adhered to by all ward staff, and manage requests for rostered duty alterations in the absence of the Ward Manager.
  3. Work alongside and opposite ward staff nurses, fostering effective communication and teamwork within duty shift teams and between day and night shifts.
  4. Ensure that patients have up-to-date risk assessments and care plans, which are regularly reviewed and evaluated to address all aspects of need.
  5. Maximise patient involvement in care planning and review, documenting clear evidence of involvement and addressing capacity factors or other barriers.
  6. Ensure compliance with the clinical audit program, formulating and implementing action plans as necessary.
  7. Properly report and review adverse and serious untoward incidents, communicating lessons learned to all staff and implementing necessary actions.
  8. Facilitate advocacy services to meet patients' needs.
  9. In the absence of the Ward Manager, attend hospital Senior Management Team meetings and Bed Management meetings, representing the ward's interests.
  10. Participate in group management supervision sessions, facilitating and managing these sessions in the Ward Manager's absence.

Candidates must have a valid NMC PIN and meet the specified requirements.
