Job Title: Housing Options Specialist

Location: Essex

Hourly Rate: £28-31 per hour (full-time)

Duration: Temporary 3 months initially

Housing Service Role:

  • To provide a front-line customer-focused service to individuals and families experiencing housing difficulties.
  • To assess housing needs and provide specialist advice in respect of all housing options to prevent and relieve homelessness.
  • When prevention opportunities have been exhausted, undertake investigations to determine the Council's duties under PtV11 Housing Act 1996, as amended, ensuring statutory obligations are carried out.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience working in a housing service.
  • Experience providing housing advice to the public and liaising with other statutory, voluntary or private sector organisations.
  • Experience issuing Personalised Housing Plan (PHP) documents.
  • Experience writing s184 decisions.
  • Strong IT and letter writing skills.
  • Excellent organisational, interviewing, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using Civica (Abritas).
  • Owning transport and holding a driving licence.

Estimated Salary: £14,560 - £16,120 per annum (based on full-time hours).

In this role, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance and support to individuals and families facing housing challenges. Your primary focus will be on assessing their housing needs, offering tailored advice, and helping them navigate the available housing options. You will also investigate cases where prevention measures have been exhausted, ensuring that the council meets its statutory obligations.
