About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Healthcare Assistant to join our Hospice at Home team. As a key member of our nursing team, you will provide high-quality care and support to patients and their families in their own homes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out personal care and activities of daily living for individual patients and groups of patients as required.
  • Carry out delegated nursing activities to assist nursing staff, including catheter and stoma care, eye and mouth care, and report findings to nursing staff.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication and liaison with patients, their families, and carers.
  • Become familiar with and follow the agreed Hospice policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to maintaining the Hospice's agreed philosophy, aims, and objectives.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Ability to deal with a palliative care environment.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Commitment to undertake shifts on the In-patient Unit and/or in the Community as appropriate to maintain fitness to practice.
  • Car Driver with Full Driving License.
  • Awareness of, and commitment to the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Hospice.
Qualifications

We require:

  • Good standard of general education (GCSE English and Maths Grade C or equivalent).
  • Understanding of basic nursing care of patients.
  • Essential requirements for AfC Band 3: NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care.
