Birmingham, Birmingham, United Kingdom Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Embrace a challenging and rewarding role as a Mental Health Practitioner Psychologist in our dynamic Acute and Urgent Care Psychological Service. Based in the Liaison Psychiatry Service at Birmingham Queen Elizabeth Hospital, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering high-quality care to patients affected by physical and mental health difficulties.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified clinical or counselling psychologist to develop expertise and experience in an acute hospital setting. As a key member of the Psychiatric Decisions Unit (PDU), you will work closely with doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals to provide comprehensive psychological support and interventions.

About the Role
  • Satisfy the requirements of this challenging role with a Doctoral Level postgraduate professional training course in clinical or counselling psychology.

You will need to demonstrate a deep understanding of the psychological impact of compromised physical health and adapt your interventions accordingly. Experience working in a physical health setting is desirable but not essential. The successful candidate will have strong skills in consultation, supervision, and teaching, allowing them to work effectively with members of other professional and non-professional groups.

In addition to providing individual and group-based treatment, you will also offer basic psychological support in routine clinical practice. Your ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to complex problems will be invaluable in this role.
