Job Title: Energy and Sustainability Engineer

Location: Belfast

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday

Working Hours: 39 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a robust energy efficiency programme/management system in line with ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems Standard.
  • Ensure compliance with UK Emissions Trading Scheme, Climate Change Agreements, Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting, and Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme.
  • Deliver energy awareness workshops to all Spirit departments as required.
  • Attend monthly Environmental Working Groups to review energy performance and prepare supporting information slides/materials.
  • Provide various energy and water reports, including monthly reports detailing energy management and compliance, fortnightly risk notifications/cost projections, and monthly Energy Governance Reports.
  • Chair fortnightly operational and monthly strategic energy management meetings and prepare supporting materials.
  • Maintain and develop a Register of Opportunities for energy projects.
  • Deal with requests from local environmental agencies (NIEA) and Utility Regulator.
  • Support energy procurement and management of energy suppliers, including attendance at quarterly review meetings.
  • Attend seminars and consultation workshops on behalf of the client.
  • Manage energy and water budgets, including PO raising/uplifts, bill validation, and invoice management.
  • Develop and maintain energy standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all activities.
  • Support customer initiatives leading to longer-term benefits for both the customer and ABM.
  • Address performance and quality standards in a timely manner.

Requirements:
  • 5 years post-qualification engineering experience across different industrial sectors operating within a regulated environment.

  • Health and safety qualified to NEBOSH level.

  • Ability to develop and maintain strong and sustainable relationships with clients, suppliers, and sub-contractors.
  • Flexible, reliable, responsible, calm in a crisis.
