About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Educational Psychologist to join our team at South Gloucestershire Council. As a key member of our professional team, you will play a vital role in promoting inclusion and supporting the best outcomes for children and young people in our area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with individual children, teachers, and other adults in schools, families, and local authority officers to contribute to the best outcomes for children and young people.
  • Support schools in delivering the graduated approach for children, young people, and young adults aged 0-25 with Special Educational Needs, through systemic work, casework, delivering training, and knowledge of evidence-informed interventions.
  • Carry out psychological assessments as part of the Education, Health, and Care (EHC) needs assessment and Annual Review process.
  • Lead on an area of interest within the service and contribute to the development of joined-up working with other relevant professionals and agencies.
Requirements
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • A fully qualified Educational Psychologist with either an Honours Degree in Psychology, a recognised teaching qualification, at least two years qualified classroom teaching experience, and a Masters qualification in Educational Psychology, or an Honours Degree in Psychology, considerable experience working with children and/or young people, and a Doctorate in Educational Psychology.
  • Experience of working as a main scale Educational Psychologist and ability to demonstrate high-quality casework, strategic thinking, innovative practice, and use of initiative to develop project work.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation affecting schools and early years' settings.
