This is an exciting opportunity for a 6-month, band 7, secondment to the Practice Development Midwife role, working within the Pastoral Team.
Main DutiesThe primary function of the practice development midwife is to actively engage in the development, implementation, and evaluation of midwifery practice. You will work clinically with midwives in all areas to ensure that these midwives are assessed in the breadth of clinical competencies required to ensure the safe delivery of compassionate midwifery practice.
You will have the responsibility to ensure that newly qualified, existing, and internationally educated midwives are supported and can successfully demonstrate the necessary clinical competencies while assuring their practice is evidence-based and safe.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement midwifery practice guidelines and protocols
- Provide clinical supervision and support to midwives
- Conduct regular audits and evaluations of midwifery practice
- Identify and address any gaps in midwifery practice
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care
We are looking for a motivated midwife with 3 years' experience who has a passion for developing and providing support to midwives of all bands.
Essential criteria include:
- Currently NMC Registered Midwife
- Registered Midwife with at least 3 years' experience who has worked in all areas
- Evidence of professional development
- Teaching qualification
- Assessor/mentorship course or equivalent
Desirable criteria include:
- Professional Midwifery Advocate
- Masters degree
- PROMPT Trainer
- NLS Trained
We offer a supportive management team, development of your leadership skills, QI training, CCAST assessor training, flexible and autonomous working, and 37.5 hours per week, part-time hours considered.
