As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for providing janitorial services, including porterage, maintenance, waste management, and security services on school sites and premises.

This is a 52-week-per-year position, with a 43-hour workweek. You will be required to work a variety of shift patterns, including 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 07:00-16:00, 08:00-17:00, and 13:00-22:00, as well as one Saturday in three, 08:00-17:00. You will also be expected to participate in the Sunday overtime rota, 12:00-17:00, and occasional overtime during the week.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

* Locking and unlocking school buildings and areas
* Using the FSIGO app on an issued device to report and log tasks as per help desk protocols
* Holding keys on a multi-site basis
* Carrying out weekly and monthly contractual and statutory checks
* Participating in an on-call rota, currently one week in every 14 weeks
* Undertaking regular security checks and identifying security risks
* Monitoring fire safety equipment and assisting in carrying out fire drills
* Operating and responding to alarm systems as appropriate
* Liaising with contractors
* Providing emergency access to school sites

Maintenance responsibilities include:

* Undertaking minor repairs, such as plumbing, changing lamps, unblocking drains, and replacing finishes and ironmongery
* Organizing and carrying out various maintenance duties to ensure the general upkeep and maintenance of premises are satisfactory, as per specific schedules for each site
* Organizing and carrying out minor decoration and improvement works
* Monitoring M&E systems and reporting any issues
* Participating in a preventative planned maintenance program and routine inspections of buildings, fixtures, fittings, furniture, premises, and grounds to assess for minor work or repairs required to maintain safe and satisfactory conditions
* Carrying out checks of heating plant and lighting systems
* Undertaking regular site inspections and identifying and recording repair and maintenance requirements
* Identifying defects and recording repair and maintenance requirements
* Undertaking emergency cleaning tasks during specified times
* Undertaking cleaning duties, such as graffiti removal and litter picking of entire sites (external)
* Monitoring the performance of contractors and carrying out inductions prior to them gaining access to sites
* Assisting in safety audits of premises and contributing to relevant risk assessment activity

Requirements:

* Janitorial/site-keeping or trade experience in a similar environment
* Good numeracy and literacy skills, with GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English
* A good working knowledge of IT
* The ability to work without direct supervision and show initiative
* The ability to relate well to children and adults
* Knowledge of health and safety procedures and precautions
* Knowledge of COSHH regulations
* A willingness to participate in development and training opportunities
* A flexible attitude and willingness to work as part of a team

This role is subject to a satisfactory passing of PVG Certification
