Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commissioning Manager for Substance Misuse to join our team at NHS England. As a key member of our commissioning team, you will play a critical role in commissioning high-quality services for vulnerable individuals, driving down health inequalities in the prison population, and promoting equality and reducing inequalities.

Main Responsibilities
  • Commission high-quality care and improve outcomes for people held in places of custody and detention in the East of England.
  • Promote equality and reduce inequalities, upholding organisational policies on the promotion of equality.
  • Create an inclusive working environment where diversity is valued, everyone can contribute, and everyday actions ensure we meet our duty to uphold and promote equality.
  • Commission services and lead programmes that aim to drive down health inequalities in the prison population by identifying issues of inequality and addressing them.
  • Collaborate with commissioning partners in the commissioning of high-quality services for vulnerable people.
  • Ensure that commissioning decisions are built on evidence-based medicine as available and appropriate.

Requirements
  • Extensive knowledge of specialist areas acquired through post-graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master's level equivalent.
  • Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement.
  • Experience of budgetary responsibility, including budget setting with evidence of working knowledge of financial processes.
  • Ability to identify risks, anticipate issues, create solutions, and resolve problems in relation to project or service delivery.
  • Evidence of planning and delivering programmes, projects, and services on time.
  • Ability to work without supervision, providing specialist advice to the organisation, working to tight and often changing timescales.
