The Croft is a renowned specialist unit providing assessment and treatment for children and their families. As a Staff Nurse in our Tier 4 children's services, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality care to young people and their families.

Situated just outside Cambridge, our unit is one of three commissioned Child and Adolescent Mental Health inpatient wards, offering exceptional opportunities for professional development in this specialist area of mental health work.

We are seeking a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our team, providing robust, creative, and compassionate care to our diverse client group. The successful applicant will have a proven track record of commitment to raising standards of care for children, young people, and their families.

Main Duties of the Job

The post holder will provide quality evidence-based nursing advice, support, and care for service users aged 13 and under with their parent within a multidisciplinary setting. This will involve assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care, as well as working knowledge of local and national policies and legislation governing current service provision.

The post holder will be responsible for identifying and contributing to the training needs of junior registered and unregistered staff, ensuring effective communication pathways exist, and acting within their sphere of responsibility, managing the shift in the absence of the Ward Manager or designated deputy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based care required, including health promotion for a named service user/group, ensuring it meets Trust timescales.
  • Participate in the setting of quality standards, including monitoring and reviewing in line with current clinical guidance practice and policy.
  • Ensure the post holder understands and meets their professional role and responsibilities under the Care Programme Approach.
  • Ensure that the requirements of the Mental Health Act 2007 are observed, adhered to, and implemented.
  • Encourage recovery, discovery, and independence, taking into account risk assessment and management.
  • Establish therapeutic relationships with service users and implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions with appropriate boundaries in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council's professional code of conduct.
  • Participate in working collaboratively with other Trust services and external agencies to provide seamless care for service users.
