Capital Reporting Financial Accountant Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Capital Reporting Financial Accountant to join our Fixed Assets team at Thames Water. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the financial reporting of the Fixed Asset Register and related month-end close process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform analysis, enforce controls compliance, reconciliations, and journal entries for the Fixed Asset Register.
  • Budgeting and forecasting depreciation.
  • Lead the year-end close process, regulatory accounting, and external audit by producing capex lead schedules, providing audit deliverables, and answering queries as they arise.
  • Ad-hoc projects such as systems improvements, reporting enhancements, controls improvement, financial analysis, and business planning.
  • Developing relationships and work collaboratively across Finance and the wider business to provide accounting, regulatory, and systems advice.

Requirements:

  • CIMA / ACCA / ACA (or equivalent) accountancy qualification.
  • Strong background in IFRS accounting principles and practices, particularly in capital-intensive businesses.
  • Experience in SAP ERP and HFM accounting software (desirable), and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • A positive, results-driven mind-set and strong communication skills.
  • Experience of working in a utilities organisation (desirable but not required).

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary of £58,000 - £65,000 per annum depending on experience.
  • Annual Leave - 26 days holiday per year increasing to 30 with the length of service. (Plus bank holidays)
