About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Community Outreach Coordinator to join our team at the Centre for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People. As a key member of our Communities Team, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of our community development projects, including the Connecting People to Communities initiative.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community organizations, hubs, and services to promote accessibility and inclusion for Deaf and hard of hearing people.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase contact with minority ethnic groups and organizations in Bristol, particularly those supporting older people and those based in areas of deprivation.
  • Provide advice and guidance to community hubs on making their venues, events, and activities accessible and inclusive for Deaf and hard of hearing people.
  • Support the delivery of events, workshops, and coffee mornings to engage local Deaf and hard of hearing communities and gather feedback on service development.
  • Collaborate with the Community Development Officer to collect project monitoring and evaluation data, including equality monitoring data and case studies.
  • Develop and maintain content for our website and social media channels to promote our services and activities.
  • Represent the Centre at local events and exhibitions, promoting our mission and values.
Requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with Deaf British Sign Language (BSL) users and hard of hearing people.
  • Experience of supporting or working with groups of people, either in a paid or volunteer capacity.
  • Good influencing and negotiating skills to persuade organizations to make their services more inclusive of Deaf people.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team, with a positive attitude towards Deaf and hard of hearing people.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and associated software, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to travel around Bristol as required.
