Experiential Education Coordinator

As an Outdoor Education Instructor with Long-term Teachers Ltd, you will play a vital role in designing and delivering alternative curricula that extend beyond the traditional classroom. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will create and manage outdoor learning programs and sensory-based activities tailored to the needs of students with autism and ADHD.
About the Position
This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic educator who is eager to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with additional needs. You will take the lead in planning and delivering outdoor education based activities, including nature-based, practical, and sensory activities that support social skills, emotional regulation, and academic goals in line with the national curriculum.
Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver outdoor education based activities: Develop and lead a curriculum focused on nature-based, practical, and sensory activities that support social skills, emotional regulation, and academic goals in line with the national curriculum.
• Individualised learning: Tailor activities to suit the needs of each student, incorporating strategies that promote engagement, skill building, and personal growth.
• Collaboration: Work closely with classroom teachers, SEN specialists, and therapists to align LOTC activities with classroom learning objectives and therapeutic goals.
• Safety and wellbeing: Ensure a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment for all students, being mindful of the sensory and behavioural needs associated with ASD and ADHD.
Requirements
• Experience of a range of outdoor education activities: eg canoeing, climbing.
• Relevant outdoor education qualifications: eg Forest School Level 3, Outdoor NGB awards.
• Passion for outdoor education: Demonstrated experience in or a passion for delivering outdoor and experiential learning activities.
• Understanding of ASD and ADHD: Knowledge of best practices in supporting students with ASD, ADHD, and related needs.
• Strong communication skills: Ability to engage effectively with students, staff, and families, and to foster positive, supportive relationships.
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with experience with special educational needs (SEN), would be advantageous but not essential.
• Minibus driver: minibus driving certificate would be advantageous.
Working Conditions
Term-time only, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Estimated salary: £25,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience.
