We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Conservation Policy Officer to join our team at Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI). The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of our conservation policy activities, working closely with our Global Trees programme and policy team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of conservation policy activities, including policy development, stakeholder engagement, and project management.
- Work closely with the Global Trees programme to coordinate conservation policy activities and ensure effective implementation.
- Contribute to the development of policy briefs, reports, and other materials to support conservation policy activities.
- Engage with stakeholders, including governments, NGOs, and other conservation organizations, to promote BGCI's conservation policy agenda.
- Support the coordination of two new projects focused on data gathering for African timber species and a behaviour change campaign tackling the illegal plant trade.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in conservation policy, project management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong understanding of international conservation policy frameworks, including CITES and the CBD.
- Excellent communication and networking skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.

Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI) is a membership organization and a global network for plant conservation, located in Kew, London. Our membership comprises over 800 botanical institutions working in plant conservation, in over 120 countries around the world.
