POSITION SUMMARY

The Maintenance Operations Manager is accountable to the Plant Manager and oversees all maintenance functions within the facility. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in the Chemical or Adhesives sector, with a comprehensive understanding of blending and batch processing. You will have successfully executed engineering enhancements, developed preventative and predictive maintenance strategies, and managed breakdown repairs while adhering to lean manufacturing principles and safety standards. A strong project management background, along with a degree or equivalent in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and knowledge of PLC systems, is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee maintenance schedules, ensuring adherence to preventative maintenance protocols to enhance asset reliability, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage facility infrastructure, including building management systems, site security, and fire protection measures.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and quality procedures in the maintenance department.
  • Conduct risk assessments for maintenance tasks in collaboration with EHS support.
  • Assist the Plant Manager in meeting engineering objectives and targets.
  • Monitor maintenance expenditures to align with the operational budget.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and ensure availability.
  • Utilize and enhance the CMMS for effective maintenance management.
  • Establish and maintain maintenance KPIs, reporting progress through visual management tools.
  • Lead and coordinate the maintenance team to ensure optimal performance of all technical processes on-site.
  • Act as the responsible supervisor for electrical systems, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate with Process and Chemical Engineers to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and propose solutions.
  • Address unplanned requests and manage corrective actions as part of continuous improvement efforts.
  • Enhance manufacturing processes and advance technical systems.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with other departments and external contractors.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor maintenance staff as necessary.
  • Conduct performance reviews and address internal challenges.
  • Support integrated management system standards (ISO9001, 14001).
  • Plan and execute capital investment projects.

TEAM MANAGEMENT

  • Supervise a team of technical personnel within the maintenance department.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Control the maintenance budget effectively.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the chemical processing industry.
  • 5 years of hands-on experience in maintenance roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in a solvent-based manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to assess and optimize control systems in a production setting.
  • Demonstrated commitment to health and safety standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Experience in managing teams effectively.
  • Proficient in MS Office, MS Project, and control systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3 years of experience in high-volume manufacturing equipment maintenance.
  • Experience in leading maintenance teams.
  • Familiarity with adhesives manufacturing equipment.
  • Training in EHS standards such as IOSH/NEBOSH.
  • Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written.
  • Proficient in CAD software and able to interpret P&ID drawings.
