Job Description

NES Fircroft is seeking a highly skilled Technical Safety Specialist to join our team in Norwich. As a key member of our Quality, Safety, Health, and Environment (QSHE) team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our operations and projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct competent in-house safety studies to support operations and projects, including Total Risk Management, HAZID, Bowtie, and ALARP.
  • Develop and maintain Barrier Diagrams (Bowties) and conduct consequence modeling using DNV GL PHAST or FLARESIM software.
  • Perform Mini Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA) and develop Event and Fault Trees.
  • Conduct Hazardous Area Classification and Fire and Explosion Risk Assessment.
  • Prepare Safety Case Material Changes and conduct 5-yearly Thorough Reviews.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Manage and review technical safety studies from competent contractors, including QRA and Cost Benefit Analysis.
  • Engage with operations and projects to ensure regulatory requirements and approved codes of practice are identified and complied with.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and advice to operations, engineering, and other support teams to ensure compliance with applicable legislation.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies on matters of HSE and provide guidance on regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain current in changes to HSE legislations, codes, guidelines, and industry standards.

Requirements:
  • Higher technical qualification within an engineering field (e.g., Process Safety, Chemical, or Mechanical) is mandatory.
  • 10+ years' experience in Safety Engineering in the Oil & Gas Industry is required.
  • Software knowledge of MS Office (Word/Excel), PHAST, PHA-Pro, BowTie XP, and FLARESIM is necessary.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports and letters, work to deadlines, and interact with Senior Management and regulatory bodies.
