Job Title: Clinical Scientist/Lead Clinical Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Scientist to lead our Diagnostic Radiology Physics team at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will act as a Medical Physics Expert (MPE) in Diagnostic Radiology to the Trust and its contracted customers. Experience of and leadership within Non-Ionising Radiation Physics would be advantageous.

The Clinical and Radiation Physics team is part of the SEND (South, East and North Devon) Medical Physics network, providing Nuclear Medicine, Diagnostic Radiology and Radiation Safety Services across the SEND geographic area to both NHS and non-NHS customers.

The role is based within Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in Exeter, with some work expected at other sites in North Devon (Barnstaple) and Torbay.

The department encourages staff training and development and is an accredited training centre for the PTP, STP and HSST training schemes. The successful candidate will be encouraged and supported in further professional development, based on their needs and service objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a Medical Physics Expert (MPE) in Diagnostic Radiology to the Trust and its contracted customers.
  • Provide leadership within Non-Ionising Radiation Physics.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of medical physics services across the SEND geographic area.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical and Radiation Physics team to provide Nuclear Medicine, Diagnostic Radiology and Radiation Safety Services.
  • Support the development of staff training and development programs.

Requirements:

  • Postgraduate qualification in Medical Physics or a related field.
  • Experience of working in a medical physics environment.
  • Leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
