About the Role

The Financial Controller is a vital and senior position within Hunter Mason Consulting Ltd, responsible for overseeing all accounting operations and supervising the accounts department. This role requires a high level of expertise and leadership skills to ensure the company's financial integrity and strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure accurate and compliant accounting records, adhering to industry standards and legislation.
  • Oversee the finance department's IT systems, ensuring seamless operations and data security.
  • Collaborate with senior management and external accountants to enhance company processes, promote effective policy making, and drive financial strategy.
  • Provide regular financial reports, including budget trends, variances, and cash flow analysis, to inform business decisions.
  • Manage the production of monthly management accounts, WIP reports, and project P&Ls.
  • Oversee the completion of the month-end process, including control account reconciliations and VAT returns.
  • Review and process payroll, expense claims, and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Manage VAT queries, valuations, and contract enquiries, working closely with Contracts Managers.
  • Monitor outstanding debtors, chase payments, and maintain relationships with clients.
  • Supervise, support, and train staff within the accounts department, ensuring coverage for all roles.
Requirements
  • Fully qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA or QBE.
  • Construction industry experience preferred.
  • Understanding of CIS and Construction industry compliance requirements.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Suite/Sage/Xero.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent personal and communication skills, with confident leadership and management abilities.
