We are thrilled to announce a new position within Thales Optronics and Missile Electronic (OME) in Glasgow or Reading for a Lead Proposal Strategist.

In this role, you will oversee specific proposal management activities to guarantee the successful execution of one or more proposals. You will introduce structure, clarity, and governance to the proposal management process while managing the preparation of prequalification response submissions to clients, aiming to secure invitations to bid.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in Proposal Kick-Off meetings, providing management direction and fostering collaboration with the Proposal Team.
  • Oversee the development of proposal deliverables, ensuring thorough review and governance, culminating in a high-quality submission.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Capture Leader to create win themes that align customer requirements with the benefits of Thales offerings.
  • Ensure that cost estimates and target budgets are developed with support from Systems Engineering and Product Management.
  • Review cost estimates to ensure competitive and winning pricing.
  • Prepare effective Gate Business Cases for specific opportunities.
  • Assist the Sales/Capture Lead in customer negotiations and presentations.

Qualifications:

  • A proven history of successfully delivering project bids in sectors relevant to Thales, such as manufacturing, defense, or heavy engineering.
  • Experience in managing bids valued between £5-60 million.
  • Ideally, experience with single-source government bidding for repeat business.
  • Strong negotiation skills, capable of engaging with customers, partners, suppliers, and various business stakeholders.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Proposal Management process, including Change Control, Risk Management, and Information Management.
  • A minimum working knowledge of industry-standard approaches to proposal management (such as Shipley Capture Bench).
