The Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team at Amazon plays a crucial role in our operational success – they are responsible for ensuring that essential machinery operates smoothly at all times.

As an RME Technician, you will be tasked with maintaining a diverse array of equipment and work environments while adhering to Health and Safety best practices. Your efforts will contribute to the safety of your colleagues and help minimize machine downtime. Our RME Technicians enhance the availability and quality of our equipment and strive to improve the operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct proactive and preventative maintenance on various site equipment
  • Perform reactive repairs and fault diagnosis in a live distribution warehouse
  • Utilize advanced tools to maximize equipment efficiency
  • Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures
  • Assist in the development and training of onsite apprentices
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives and implement best practices across multiple EU sites
A Day in the Life
As an RME Technician, you will be stationed on-site, allowing for rapid response to any machinery issues. You will carry out a variety of planned preventative maintenance tasks to ensure that equipment operates safely. Additionally, you will promptly address breakdowns, investigating and implementing solutions as quickly as possible while also suggesting long-term improvements.

Collaborating with senior colleagues, you will perform day-to-day maintenance tasks, such as plumbing and painting, and coordinate with contractors when external expertise is required.

Your work schedule will include various shifts to ensure that our sites receive support around the clock, enabling Amazon to maintain its renowned delivery speed.

About the Team
Our Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team is dedicated to keeping our equipment performing at optimal levels. We are a technically skilled group, composed of excellent team players and guided by experienced leaders. Together, we maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment across our global network of fulfillment centers.

Some team members take on leadership roles, overseeing projects involving exciting technologies – some of which are unique to Amazon.

From the installation of automated packaging systems to the general maintenance of a site and the repair of key distribution equipment, our team manages most aspects of Amazon's technical operations.

This includes ensuring that buildings comply with legal standards, maintaining safety, and maximizing operational efficiency. There are numerous opportunities for career advancement, both within the RME team and throughout Amazon.
Our primary focus is on minimizing downtime in Amazon's critical operations, ensuring that customers receive their orders promptly. We often work during early or late hours to perform maintenance with minimal disruption, including night shifts.

If we identify a more efficient method for a task, we possess the skills and opportunities to develop and implement entirely new processes or cutting-edge technologies, such as Amazon Robotics and our Complex Item Sorter.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- Completion of a full Engineering indentured apprenticeship and/or qualification to a minimum of NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant Engineering field (City & Guilds Level 3, SVQ/IVQ)

  • Relevant experience as a qualified engineer
  • Experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance
  • Advanced proficiency in the local language, both verbally and in writing
