Job Overview

As a Public Space Maintenance Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of our community's public areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting thorough assessments of public roadways and open areas to identify maintenance requirements.
  • Physically removing litter, animal remains, waste, and other debris from public spaces.
  • Utilizing appropriate street cleaning machinery and tools as necessary.
  • Performing routine maintenance on public waste and litter bins, employing suitable equipment.
  • Operating designated vehicles when necessary.
  • Collecting and disposing of waste in accordance with established service protocols.
  • Addressing issues related to illegal dumping and ensuring water course grids are clear.
  • Engaging in hand weeding, hoeing, and sweeping activities.
  • Employing a variety of tools and equipment for effective cleaning.
  • Carrying out general labor tasks, including snow removal as required.
  • Ensuring that public cleaning standards are met and reporting any facility defects to the line manager promptly.
  • Adhering to all health and safety regulations and accurately completing relevant documentation.
  • Responding to public inquiries and assisting the Environmental Cleansing Chargehand with various tasks.
  • Performing any additional duties as required in line with the role.

  • Physical capability to walk significant distances daily.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, demonstrating physical dexterity and flexibility in task execution.
  • Strong teamwork skills, clear verbal communication abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Commitment to delivering consistent and effective service.
  • A full driving license is preferred.
