About the Role

As an Adult Psychiatry Consultant, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care to patients, developing and implementing treatment plans, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care. Your expertise and knowledge will be essential in establishing a common understanding of patient problems and developing strategic management plans for effective recovery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct new referral assessments, deliver therapy, or refer to psychology colleagues for relevant interventions
  • Formulate care and treatment plans, prescribe treatment, and provide guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness
  • Actively support patients and their families, communicating clinical information to explain diagnoses and treatment options
  • Communicate with patients and the multidisciplinary team on shared patient decision making
  • Work in and lead a multidisciplinary team, assessing and prioritizing patient requirements, delegating effectively to others
  • Recognize, review, and report patient condition changes to the patient and multidisciplinary team
  • Perform basic administrative and clerical tasks, such as keeping records of test results, writing prescriptions, and monitoring treatment plans
  • Teach and train junior doctors and medical students, and other multidisciplinary team members
Requirements
  • MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) or equivalent
  • Hold CCT or CESR at the time of interview or in an established training programme and within six months of CCT
  • Inclusion on GMC's Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT or CESR (CP) at interview
  • 6 months recent NHS experience within the last 3 years
