About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lloyds Construction Underwriting Manager to join our team at Aviva. As a key member of our construction underwriting team, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of construction risks and developing strategies to drive growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of construction risks, including underwriting, pricing, and risk assessment
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive growth and profitability in the construction underwriting business
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including risk engineers, claims specialists, and operations teams, to ensure effective risk management and claims handling
  • Provide training and development opportunities for junior underwriting staff
  • Represent Aviva in the market, engaging with producers, clients, and peers to promote our construction underwriting capabilities
Requirements
  • Proven experience in underwriting construction risks, with a strong track record of managing a portfolio of risks and developing strategies to drive growth and profitability
  • Strong analytical and strategic skills, with the ability to review submissions and understand Aviva's appetite for risk
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage with brokers and clients to promote Aviva's construction underwriting capabilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure effective risk management and claims handling
  • Strong IT skills, with experience of using underwriting systems and tools
